Permanent Outdoor House Light Installation

What a permanent outdoor house light installation actually involves, from track choice and mounting to app setup and year-round use.

Permanent outdoor house light installation means mounting a low-voltage LED track along your rooflines once, then controlling color and scenes from an app instead of climbing a ladder every season. It replaces the annual up-and-down of holiday lights with a system built to stay in place.

Homeowners across Perrysburg, Sylvania, and Toledo are switching for the same reasons: no more ladder risk, and lighting that works for holidays, birthdays, and ordinary Tuesday nights.

What is permanent outdoor house lighting

It's a track of individually addressable LED diodes mounted along your fascia, soffit, or roofline, wired to a weatherproof controller, and run from a phone app. Instead of stapling string lights every November, the track stays up and you change what it does.

We install two main systems: Jellyfish lighting, which uses a permanent aluminum track with machined corner pieces, and Govee permanent lighting, which uses a cuttable channel (Pro 19" or Elite/Govee 2 with 15" spacing) at a lower entry cost.

How the install day actually goes

We start with a site walk to measure every roofline you want lit and note obstacles like gutters, vents, and downspouts. On install day, we mount brackets at consistent intervals, run the track, and route low-voltage wire back to a controller near an outlet.

Corners get machined or cut to keep the light spacing even instead of bunching up or gapping at transitions. That detail is the difference between a clean line at night and a row of uneven dots.

  • Site walk and measurement of every roofline section
  • Bracket mounting at consistent spacing along fascia or soffit
  • Track installation with clean corner transitions
  • Low-voltage wiring routed to a weatherproof controller
  • App pairing, scene setup, and a final walkthrough with you

Choosing between Jellyfish and Govee

Jellyfish's aluminum track is built for permanence: it's more rigid, holds its shape through freeze-thaw cycles, and the corner pieces are machined rather than bent on-site. It's the choice for homeowners who want the most durable, cleanest-looking install.

Govee is a strong option if you want a permanent, app-controlled system at a more accessible price point. The cuttable channel is flexible to install and still gives you full RGB control and scheduling.

What the app actually controls

Once it's installed, you set scenes for holidays, game days, or a plain warm white for everyday curb appeal, and schedule them to turn on and off automatically at sunset and sunrise. Most homeowners set a default warm white for daily use and swap in color scenes for specific occasions.

You can adjust brightness, speed of animated effects, and zones (front vs back, upstairs vs downstairs) independently if your install has multiple controllers.

Maintenance and what to expect over time

The track and diodes are rated for outdoor exposure, so there's no annual takedown or storage. Occasional cleaning to clear leaves or debris from the channel keeps light output even, and we're a call away if a section needs service.

Because everything is sealed and low-voltage, there isn't the frayed-cord or broken-bulb maintenance that comes with traditional string lights left up too long.

Is it worth it compared to holiday lights alone

If you only wanted lights for December, permanent lighting is a bigger upfront step than seasonal holiday lighting. But most homeowners choosing permanent already wanted lighting they'd use more than once a year, for parties, sports, or just everyday ambiance.

We also offer financing so the decision isn't only about the upfront number.

Frequently asked questions

How long does installation take?

A single-story home with one roofline is often a one-day job. Larger or multi-story homes with more linear footage can take one and a half to two days.

Will the track be visible during the day?

It's mounted low-profile against the fascia or roofline, so it's noticeably less visible than clipped string lights and blends into the trim line when off.

Can I control different zones separately?

Yes, if your home has multiple controllers, you can run different colors or schedules on the front versus back of the house.

What happens if a diode goes out?

We can service individual sections. Because the systems are addressable, a single diode issue doesn't usually take down the whole run.

The bottom line

  • Permanent lighting replaces annual install/takedown with a one-time mounted track.
  • Jellyfish (aluminum) and Govee (cuttable channel) are the two systems we install.
  • Install includes measurement, bracket mounting, wiring, and app setup.
  • The system runs year-round for holidays, events, and daily curb appeal.
  • Maintenance is minimal since components are outdoor-rated and sealed.
